I've Had Enough. Have you?

Okay, people. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. It's about time, or should I say, past time, that I take charge of my health once more. I'm always tired, and lately, sick more often. At my age, this is not a good thing. I see my body going down a path that my mind, for a long time now, has refused to acknowledge.

Plus - it seems wrong on so many levels that I have allowed my 'temple' that God has blessed me with to get in such a state of disrepair.

I'm starting this blog in an attempt to get good advice, find kindred souls, and bring friends on board so that we can keep each other accountable. Care to join me on this journey?

  3. I'm with you, Donna! Illness may make us sick and tired, but we shouldn't let our bad habits do that. There are sure positive steps we can take to improve how we feel.

  5. Good for you, Donna! I embarked on this same journey, beginning in Sept. last year. I'm healthier now, have more energy, and soon God willing, will begin losing weight to become even healthier. Losing weight isn't merely about looking good for me...it's about joint and heart health, mobility as I age, and strength. I won't mind if a benefit is I look better, too! ;D
I'm learning to cook and eat healthier, and my hubby is my biggest cheerleader and supporter...eating many of the same foods I do, and helping me find ways to fix unhealthy favorites in a healthy manner so I don't feel deprived! Nothing is off limits, except those foods on my allergy list. Moderation, good choices...easy in theory, harder in practice.
Beginning this year I'm adding exercise...moderate. Also confess I like Twittercize for it's encouragement to move and do throughout the day, not just at a specified 30 min. to 1 hr. set time.
I'm with you...I'm SAT, too, Lynn!!

  6. Exactly, Carrie! It's not about losing weight - although I need to do that, too, but about becoming a healthier and more energized woman. How can I accomplish all I need to while feeling like I could go back to bed most of the time? I'm so glad you stopped by. I have a feeling we can all learn a lot from you!

  7. Donna I am really glad you started posting things like this. I am have suffered with chronic depression my whole life and I think it has a lot to do with not eating right or exercising. I am going to try to get these things together so I can enjoy my life the way god wants me too and stop feeling so tired and motivated all of the time. If you have any great tips I would love to hear them.

  9. Just a thought...get your hormone levels (all of them) checked, as well as your vitamin levels.
It's scary how many times depression is a symptom of a deficiency in these areas and we are totally unaware. Getting these levels where they need to be does not always alleviate the need for an anti-depressant, but sometimes it will. And sometimes it will mean lower doses will work.
So, as all diet/exercise folks tell us: check with your physician. I'll add: get the best diagnostic blood tests as your insurance will support. Get pro-active with your health and make your doctor listen to you, and talk with you.
